Thankful for Forgiveness

Forgiveness points me towards thankfulness and celebration.  Thank you, dear Heavenly Father!  His forgiveness and the blessings He pours out on me should cause me to be more than willing to offer forgiveness to others in my life when they mess up, when they fail me, when they hurt me.  I am thankful for God’s forgiveness!  

Psalm 103:1-5:

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

What points you towards

thankfulness and celebration?

I am a reader…I love books!  And out of all that I have read or will ever read, I am  most thankful for the Word of God.  In particular, the Psalms point me in the right direction and guide my heart towards a closer relationship with Him.  I recently was criticized for trusting in the Truth found in Scripture, and instead of  shaking my faith, I felt my faith strengthen as the Holy Spirit flooded me with the memories of countless times His Word has been proven absolutely true and faithful in my very own day to day life.  I have found the Bible to be absolutely true.  There is nothing else like reading the Bible to focus my mind on things that are healthy, to guide my hands toward positive action in His Name, and to guide my feet on to the good paths God has for me.

Psalms 119:45, 52, 57:

“I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”

“I remember your ancient laws, O Lord, and I find comfort in them.”

“You are my portion, O Lord;  I have promised to obey your words.”

What points you towards

thankfulness and celebration?

 

I have some family members whose hearts have recently been touched by the Lord to reach out to the hurting and the lost.  They didn’t just think about how sad it was, they actually took the huge step of faith to physically reach out and bless some of those who are in great need.  Six packages were assembled containing waterproof sheets, bedrolls, food-stuff and some toiletries and six individuals were blessed with a conversation, eye contact, and the love of Jesus Christ.  Hearing about this in turn gave me cause to be thankful for their great example and to celebrate how God is at work in their life.

 

I Corinthians 11:1:

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”

 

Luke 10:26,27:

“’What is written in the Law?’…[Jesus] answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

thankfulness and celebration?

 

I am so thankful for the salvation I have through my savior, Jesus Christ!  God is amazing and has blessed me so much!

 

Ephesians 1:3,7-8:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ…In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”

What points you towards

thankfulness and celebration?

 

Knowing God is “the God who sees me” directs my heart to gratitude.  Not too long ago, I came across the Bible passage talking about Hagar, a servant, and it reminded me of this truth. Even in the hardest of circumstances (and Hagar had really tough challenges) I too can rest knowing I am not alone and I can even celebrate because I have a personal relationship with the same God who blessed Hagar in her time of trial.

 

Genesis 16:13:

“She gave the name to the Lord who spoke to her:  ‘You are the God who sees me…’”

 

Psalm 139:1:

“O Lord you have searched me and you know me.”

 

God sees you…does this truth statement turn your heart towards thankfulness and celebration?  Can this statement change anything about your day today?

 What points you towards

thankfulness and celebration?

 

Today I thank God for the specific gifts, talents and abilities He has created me to have. I can bless others with those gifts and abilities and hopefully they see His love shining through me.

I am uniquely created for the purposes He has prepared for me. I have learned to be grateful for my uniqueness and no longer try to be like someone else. Thank you, Lord, for blessing me so I can in turn bless someone else!

 

Our contributor today of the above quote on thankfulness highlights a real life struggle so many women face today.  But there is joy and purpose to be found in the way God has made each of us, in our unique personalities and in the way He has shaped us.  What steps of thanksgiving and celebration does God want you to take today?

 What points you towards

thankfulness and celebration?

 

Today I am thankful for music. I love to listen and sing along to music…it is my favorite daily activity. It blesses and affects me in ways that only God could do. I am so thankful for sweet melodies with meaningful words, or just a song to dance and be silly with my little ones.

 

Our contributor today of the above quote on thankfulness is a great mom of four young kids.  Most would agree that the blessing of children is great cause for thanksgiving and celebration, and yet, when we face the day-to-day of real life, whether surrounded by the responsibility of mothering young kids or whatever role God has placed before us, it is so easy to be tempted away from an attitude of thankfulness and celebration.  This mom’s words and the below Scriptures are a great reminder for all of us that God has given us so much to be thankful for. The very gift He wants us to enjoy to its fullest, we can also turn around in praise to Him.  He has given us the pleasure of music to push us towards a grateful and joy filled heart.

 

Psalm 104:33:

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

James 5:13:

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

Colossians 3:16:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
